Dec 19, 2011 22:06

tadaaaa~~

Lets learn to make simple Japanese Sentence

so here it is! my first post on learning Nihongo...

hope you can get along ne :)

1. IDENTIFYING THINGS
  • I am John Haris (introducing oneself)
  • Watashi wa Jon Harisu desu/ da
  • 私はジョンハリスです。
Or you could say it :
  • 私がジョンハリスです。
  • Watashiga John Harisu desu.

So whats the difference?

If particle 'wa'  it marks it as the topic of sentence.
- Topic usually must be someone or something that both speaker and listener can see or hear,or identify from previous conversation, or shared knowledge.

If you use particle 'ga' it marks as the subject of the sentence.
- Subject on the other hand, must be someone or something that is newly introduced into the conversation or discourse, or is emphasized.

Try these :
  1. I am an American.
  2. She is a nurse
  3. Tom is a student.
