The Life
John 11:24-25: "Martha said to Him, "I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day. Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me though he may die, he shall live."
Martha makes the same mistake here that I think everyone makes so many times.... We think of life as a span of time.... and we think of death as a destination, and as the resurrection as a future event. But Jesus clarifies.....
Life is not a span of time.... we die because we are not wired to have time built into us... Life is Jesus. God is life... without Him we die.....
But He says that the ones who believe in Him can finally experience life.... that life is resurrected in them.... they are no longer dead in sin... that now, there can be life--not a time, but a state of being.
"Though he may die, he shall live"....... There will be a physical death, but if you believe in Jesus, this means nothing, because you have LIFE... You enter into the eternity of who God is...
We know that Christ will raise the bodies of those who have died. But this is not an event--this is what naturally occurs.... Death cannot overcome life, just as darkness cannot overcome light.
