Getting a new guitar
So I'm planning on getting a new guitar--more specifically, an acoustic-electric guitar. My favorite one online was the Ovation shallow bowl celebrity guitar, for $300. It's almost as thin as my electric guitar, but really light, and all the reviews online were great. Today I went to Guitar Center to try it out, and it really wasn't all that spectacular. Yes, it had a tuner on it, but it was somewhat hard to use. Yes, it was thin, but the bowl shape was really uncomfortable and the plug was in an awkward position. The guy from the store got this guitar down for me:
This guitar has all the qualities I want except for one.
Qualities I want:
Thin body (because I'm a girl...makes it more comfortable)
Cutaway shape (same thing--comfort, and it looks cool)
Acoustic-electric
On-board tuner
Electronics are easy to use
Good action (like it's easy for me to play on it)
Good sound unplugged (just like a really nice acoustic guitar sound)
Good sound plugged in (so it keeps that acoustic sound but is amplified)
Lightweight
Natural finish (booooooo)
So this guitar. It's amazing. It even has some cool things that I didn't even think of. Like where it has a hole for the normal guitar plug, it also has a hole for a different kind of plug, so I think it could go directly into the computer or something like that...anyway it's nifty. BUTTTT TTTTT. it only comes in black, and then two ugly ones i would never get which are red and this "sunburst" one that just looks dreadful. I really really want a pretty natural finish guitar. When I kept trying to get the guy to find out if it came in natural, too, he was like "it's really too bad, you know, most people come in here asking if the guitars come in black instead of natural and then when you want it in natural it doesnt have it".
The thing is, I can keep looking for good guitars, but this one really seems like the RIGHT one--just without the exact aesthetics that I might want. Is it worth me getting this guitar? Should I keep trying to find one as good as it but with a natural finsih? I've spent hours online and I tried some other ones in the store and this one really seems like the perfect one. $300, just like the one I liked before that isn't that great after all, too.
