If you read any part of this, read this:
My dad is the best. I got home and he handed me a bag. I said, "You weren't supposed to get me a present today because I already got my ring." He just hugged me and said, "open it." It was a huge book of writings by Ben Franklin. How awesome is that? Then inside was a note about how he was proud of me and how I was a "national treasure" and how "I was applauded at awards, applauded at performances and applauded at graduation, but now it is time to walk in Silence. Do good in the future." Did you see it? It said "SILENCE DOGOOD" which is a line from National Treasure, which is a movie me and him watched and really bonded over becuase we went to Philadelphia and love history. We spent a lot of time during that movie saying, "Oh wow...we've been there!" So he made me a little teary eyed...until I opened the book. Inside on every page was one highlighted letter. This goes on for 978 pages mind you. It took about two hours to decode (just like the movie) and it was really sweet. He's such a great dad.
And another sappy moment of the day: My grandma, my mother, and I were riding in the car to Outback (my dad and my other grandma took another car) and my grandma, after a moment of silence, says quietly, "You know what Martha Rose, your grandpa sure would have loved this. If only he could have seen it." And then there was more silence in the car as my mom got all teary and if I wasn't trying to hold back tears I would have said, "He did see it."
