Ruby Sees All

Friday Night

We decided that we wanted to go to Capitol Andrew's downtown for dinner and then go to Poor Paul's for drinks and games afterwards.

Well, that didn't go to plan. Apparently there was some street festival going on downtown so Andrew's was packed (an hour to hour and a half wait). We walked a couple blocks down to Po' Boys and it was a little less busy but not as much. It's a self seating restaurant but we stood near the door to scan and see if maybe a waitress would come up and show us where we could possibly sit. Instead, a waitress came in and said "Sit wherever you want" and left. Um...there wasn't any place to sit. I can understand being busy and maybe wanting to let us know as briefly as possible that there weren't any seats, but there were so many better ways to say it. She could have given us a wait time, maybe told us who was on their way out. I don't know, there was just something about what she said that didn't sit with either of us, so we left.

We ended up going to Logan's Steakhouse for dinner. I had only been once and I enjoyed it when I went but Rob hadn't been before and didn't really have a great opinion of it either way. It was some place he wanted to try and I'm glad he did but I guess it just wasn't what he thought it would be.

We also did go to Poor Paul's afterwards just didn't play any games. More people watched and talked. I played my mental game of trivia as usual. It was good times despite not being able to find a place to eat quickly.

Lake Ella Ducks do not care how close you get. It was maybe three feet away from him before he started to get uncomfortable. That particular picture I was maybe a foot and a half away. Matt's actually been able to pet them before but I wasn't that adventurous. He didn't go away until I started to leave from where I was sitting.

Saturday

We went to On the Border for lunch yesterday and then went to Lake Ella afterwards. As I figured, it was an absolutely beautiful day. There wasn't much to take pictures of though. Lots of ducks and there was a steal drum band playing in the gazebo. There were children playing but I didn't want to take pictures just because I didn't want people to get the wrong idea about what I was doing. You can never be too careful.

We didn't get to stay for very long though because I wanted to work on my project. By the time we had gotten to Lake Ella it was a little after 5 and I wanted to get back home ASAP because I didn't know how long it would take to make the things I had mentioned last entry.

I was able to make everything and it all came out all right actually. I'll have pictures in my next entry. I ended up making Bruschetta, Chicken Parmesan, and Marbled Strawberry cheesecake. I'm especially proud of myself for the cheesecake. Rob's mom is coming over in a couple hours to have some.
