Both characters come from very well written shows full of plot twists that jump out and punch you in the face. And both win great huge trophies in the snark category. But its really a matter of opinion as to whether one is more favored then the other and the reasons behind that choice. As far as Veroinica goes, I think the whole 'my thinking she was super bitchy in season three" comes from the story line they started the season out with. I'm really not of the opion that rape should have been the main focus of the show. I especially don't like the way they handled that or the way that Veroinica spoke to the victims. the writers handled that very poorly and should have just not even tried to go that route. They really should have gone with the whole secret society thing that they set up at the end of the season. If they had I really do think that Veroinca Mars would have had more seasons on T.V.
Spike will never be old news in my opinion. There's a reason that Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel have such a cult following. They're damn good shows and the writing (except for season 4 of Angel) shows that. Most shows/movies worth anything have a following for that reason. (except for High School Musical. I refuse to put that anywhere near the category of Veronica Mars and BtVS and Angel) Veronica Mars has a following because season 1 and 2 were amazing. It doesn't have quite as big of a following because season 3 was subpar and really just pathetic compared to the other seasons. That was when most people started watching (other then those who had been watching since the begining) because they had heard how good it was from friends and decided to give it a try. And then when they did, the show didn't really live up to the hype. Season 3 and the characterzation of Veronica was teh shows downfall sadly. Which sucks because I really would have loved to see where they went with the whole secret society/list of names thing.
