Coming Weekend Highlights aka...stuff to be happy about!
Man, this road has been bumpy but I'm trying to stay positive. Thankfully, Matt's parents are coming down tonight from Ithaca, NY and they're bringing so many upstate NY treats...like ground bison, sausage casings, pig parts for our friend to make pancetta...and a chest freezer.
Yes, a chest freezer. Matt's mom took me a bit seriously when I said I wanted one. We have no clue where we're going to stick it in our Brooklyn apt, but we'll find a way somehow. javabird & goldings695, do you want to share a quarter cow or something so I can fill this dang thing up?
Anyway, on to the highlights which all magically include food for some reason.
Highlight of my coming weekend #1: learning how to make bison sausage from bf's mom.
Highlight #2: testing an apple butter pie recipe for Thanksgiving Day. I'll be using my own homemade apple butter for it and trying to make it vegan to accommodate the hostess' vegan sister.
Highlight #3: checking out the New Amsterdam Market down at South St. Seaport. It super rich & kind of snotty, but the food's good. Plus, Matt's parents used to go to the old market that was there back in the '70s and it would good for them to see it now.

Yay weekend! What are you plans for this weekend and Thanksgiving? I can't wait to get my hands on a turkey. Seriously...I'm craving it now. Okay, off to the grocery store to stock up on weekend food supplies!
