Yesterday was a good day for being productive. While working studiously a main client project I was able to finally cook up a tasty duck rich stock from a carcass we had a couple of weekends ago. The house smelled wonderful. I'll probably use it in a duck & mushroom risotto this weekend with some dried mushrooms we have along with whatever meat falls off the carcass. Should be supremely tasty. I was also able to get in a bit of down time before starting the day and just eat a real breakfast, away from the computer, in the sunny living room. I think this does a lot to set the tone for my day will try implementing as many mornings a week as possible. Coupled with that and making a real list of my tasks for the day completely helped me focus.
I also made a list of what techniques to use that will minimize distractions during the day. The major one that helped me? Only check business mail in the morning and not personal email. Reading personal email will set an interest for the day and will keep me hitting refresh. It worked wonders. Do you all have any major distraction-busters? Please feel free to share. I need all the concentration I can muster right about now. Especially, because there might be another client on the horizon with second meeting this coming Monday. Hooray!
All in all, I've been so swamped lately and didn't have time to post our CSA bounty for this week. Here goes..
+ 3 potatoes
+ two apples
+ 4 carrots
+ small bunch of kale
+ 1 orange
+ 1 avocado
+ small bunch of collard greens
+ smaller bunch of green chard
+ .5 lb of frozen blackberries
+ 28 oz of frozen diced plum tomatoes
+ 1 lb frozen string beans
+ 1 lb frozen butternut squash puree
+ 1 lb frozen yellow & green summer squash
+ 28 oz of frozen diced Carolina Gold tomatoes
We have a ton of potatoes piling up. Anybody have some good white potato & sweet potato recipes they would like to share? Last night's dinner was whole wheat spaghetti with a meaty-veggie sauce. I used the frozen summer squash & a set of frozen mixed peppers in there. So chunky and tasty with 40,000% of your vitamin C intake for one day. Dinner tonight will probably be leftover or a Lean Cuisine. What's for dinner tonight, y'all?
