This is why books>movies.

I think I'll be one of those party-poopers and say that the movie does not live up to its hype. Oh please, Twilight was loved by rabid teenage girls all over the world, but that doesn't make the book any more ground-breaking than reading the Chinese newspaper tabloids.

Maybe this is one of those instances where I hear the hype and I don't want to set myself up for a fall so I judge things critically, like the other time with The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time. Either way, this movie isn't all fail, but all that glitters isn't gold right?

For those who've read and loved the book, I guess watching the movie isn't going to be too painful. Provided you realise that they didn't take the book seriously. Book is not equivalent to movie. They seemed to have completely changed the first part of the book, and more; even putting the friendship of Salim and Thomas (wth its not Jamal -.-) in a different light. Strange.

I don't know, maybe I don't like the movie cause I was actually expecting a proper adaptation of the book to film, instead of some half-assed action movie with a bit of that "human-spirit" pseudo shit thrown in to keep people like us happy. Then again this movie is in essence, a "Bollywood" movie so I shouldn't have expected more than the usual.

That aside, I realise that it probably wouldn't have been easy to completely take the book and turn in into a movie without having to cut certain unimportant parts, but pretty-ing it up Hollywood style wasn't what I had in mind.

I tried. Really I did. The part where Salim escaped from the locked outhouse to get the autograph was hilarious, as are some other parts. But overall the movie wasn't really what I thought it'd be.

Hype, hype, hype. Some people are just so blindly influenced by something thats critically acclaimed, or hugely popular.

PS: I am currently not contactable. So don't call or text unless you expect no reply. Which is kinda stupid.
