Things what I learned today:
1. Even if the airline says to be at the ticket desk 2 hrs before your flight, they don't really mean that if you're the first flight out that day. At 4am this morning, I found out that the ticket desk doesn't open until 4:45. Other people were steamed that they lost out on a bit more sleep, but I had gotten up at 2am anyway because I was too afraid of missing my flight.
2. Air Canada is the BESTEST AIRLINE EVAR. They have little touch screen TVs on some of their planes now with video on demand or TV or music or whatever you want. You can pause the video, speed it up, whatever. Very very spiffy. Oh, and they don't charge you for the headphones. I'm sad my flight was only an hour and a half and I barely made it through half of "Thank You for Smoking". The only bad thing was that they stopped the feed during each announcement, and of course they had to repeat each message in French.
3. Canadian people really do say 'Eh?'
4. I work for the best company in the whole world. At our staff meeting prior to our huge user conference, a new benefit was unveiled - a 7-week paid sabbatical, in addition to other vacation time, vested in after 7 years of service. If my old job had this benefit, I might not have left after 7 years.
I'm staying on the penthouse floor of one of the swankiest hotels in town. The room is a little better appointed than the standard rooms, and it has a plasma HDTV. Otherwise it's just a room with an awesome view of downtown Toronto and the Skydome, CN Tower and part of Toronto Island. I know I'm only in this room because the hotel is booked solid and I made my reservation months ago, but I still feel like a playa.
