I Raise My Glass to Chuck

Ruckus, discordant, boisterous adulation
Simple and pure
Young but aging quickly
Voices contending for recognition
Quorum obtained but hardly sustained
Liquor laced lips clumsily change lanes
Play follow the leader
Follow the leader
Follow the leader
Course discourse and turgid camaraderie
Chance dancing and unwitting participants
Shouting ricochets
Thin walls between shared halls
And whispers of proper propriety are considered
Laughter and crying are too similar
Two steps removed
Harrowing regardless
Laughing and crying
Another signature of liquor
Let lights dim and words draw out
Libidinous farewells exchanged and forgotten
No regrets, no memory, just familiar
