The best 18 dollars I've ever spent...
Was for the CO detector that went off tonight.
My whole family has been extremely sick the last two days, but it was a weird sickness that would go away at night. At about 9 am on Saturday we got really sick. Extremely bad headaches, vomiting, etc. I almost went and bought a CO detector right then, but that night we got better. At about 6pm everyone was feeling great. I thought it was just a 12 hour bug that had hit our family all at the same time.
Until about 9am yesterday, when we all came down with the same symptoms again. I sent Don out with the girls to get the CO detector and some medicine, in case it was just some really weird bug that we had caught.
Well, he got home, we plugged it in and... nothing. We still felt horrible, but figured it was sjust some really weird bug. At 4 this morning it went off. We got the kids dressed and out of there, into the van, called the fire department, and proceeded to knock on the upstairs tenant's door for 20 minutes before we woke them up. That really freaked me out, but I guess they don't go to bed until 1am or so, and are just deep sleepers. They hadn't been sick or anything, but said their dog had been acting funny for a few days.
So, now we're at my mom's house. We'll probably be here for a couple of days until the rental agency gets the problem taken care of. I'm just so thankful that we bought that CO detector and I wish we had done it as soon as we moved in and realized there wasn't one.
So, yeah, buy a CO detector if you don't have one. This is my PSA for the day.
