Last night was round two of our Young Professionals happy hour/networking series. At first, I didn't necessarily want to go all the way from Vinings to the Highlands, especially after I ended up having to backroad it the entire way there because traffic was so bad (ugh, can we have one in my neck of the woods, pls?). But in the end I was so glad that I went because, aside from helping to raise money for The Cause (ACS), I once again met a great group of people. So many just really cool people. I ended up spending most of the night chattin it up with this one guy and then he joined me and a few friends for dinner at this divey burger joint.
I also left the networking event feeling a little more encouraged about service for this group as well; we're going to do something different for August, so hopefully we can get a good turnout. But at the same time, still slightly frustrating because I want these 100 people who came out to ALL come out and help us help the ACS. NOBODY was talking to them about volunteering...except me, of course. I was totally finding a way to slip our service stuff into every conversation I had. LOL!
Also a boost yesterday: everybody kept telling me how 'great' I looked. Not only was I having a good hair day, but Yay for new outfit, er, new shirt. I bought the shirt while I was at home in VA, but forgot it up there and then had to wait for the 'rents to ship it down here. Made it's debut last night and apparently, it was fabulous. I should really up my fashion game *giving what i'm wearing to work today the stank eye*. Somedays I do well for myself, somedays (like today) are a total miss. ... Now it's really bothering me; I have to change shirts before I leave the house. Stacy and Clinton - can I be saved??
So, my busy social calendar for the week continues tonight; I'm supposed to go to yet another ACS fundraising thing at Urban Flats. I'm not sure if I'm going to go though; I'm tired of spending money. LOL! But I will eventually need to eat dinner and it's for a good cause. Maybe I will meet interesting people at this one too?
