This weekend has been full of the unexpected...and it hasn't really been a bad thing at all.
Friday morning, I woke up and realized that I've flipped back into HealthNut mode over the last week or so. WW was never so easy to follow..and I don't feel hypnotized by it this time. LOL... It's a nice, much needed change of pace for my body. Either that or it's really because I need a (healthy) mental distraction because I'm freaking out over the fact I've had a non-stop headache for about a week now. Whichever.
Friday afternoon, my co-worker gave me her free tix to a comedy club here in town because she couldn't go. What a sweet girl. I didn't know anyone else that could go either, so I threw it out there to the universe and found 2 really nice girls that wanted to go too. I got to the comedy club WAY earlier than I intended and their lot was full, so I just kept on driving...and ended up lost in the hood somewhere. LOL! People were looking at me like UM....*glare* Yeah, me and Homie had to keep it movin. So, the girls finally showed up and we went inside for the 10:30 show. I'd never been to this place or to a comedy show, so I had no idea what to expect. It was cool inside, not too broke-lookin, not too fancy. I was slightly dressed up in heels, but the uber-casual didn't stick out either. The host guy was actually really annoying in the beginning, but the DJ kept it movin and host comic guy hit his stride about halfway through. I felt like there were 36 comics on the roster for the night, but it was just the host and 3 other guys, all of which had been on Comicview, Bad Boys of Comedy and Def Comedy Jam. Um...can't remember the last time I saw any of the above. The best was the 3rd comic..I think his name was Doo Doo something or another. *looks back at that sentence and LMBAO* Anyway, he was a funny lookin feller. Short. Bald. Butter yellow shirt with some brightass gold teeth. His act was saved by the fact that he kept busting into song. The problem with going to such a late show though is that it's Friday night, everybody's been up all day, and by the time the headliner came on, we were all dead. LOL. And I didn't think he was very funny at all! He was really fixiated with this girl up front and I didn't need to hear him fantasizing out loud about her being young and thick. *throws up a little bit in my mouth* I was falling asleep toward the end of his act, which finally wrapped at about a quarter to 1. The girls and I were the last to leave the club because one of them wanted to go buy the DJ's cd. The last comic guy walked us out, which was nice of him. And we got free tix for next weekend. Nice, huh? I'll give my co-worker the ticket since she was so nice to me.
On the way home, I called Twostripe and we worked out plans for the upcoming Stripe Family Reunion. She seemed to really think it mattered to me that all we were probably going to end up doing during my visit was a tiny bit of shopping and watching massive amounts of tv. Hello, that's why it's called vacation. LOL! We haven't seen each other since just before our senior year of high school. The point is that I'm excited!
Yesterday was also good. I got a ton of things done that I've been meaning for weeks to cross off my list of things to do. Some cleaning, updating things, oil change for Homie. Oh, that oil change was a trip. I took my car to Jiffy Lube since I didn't have all damn day to wait at the VW dealership. I should put a picture of Homie here. Anyway, so it was an odd experience. There was no wait, which was nice. These guys that were working yesterday had "NASCAR FANS" written all over them. LOLOL! I mean, everything from the accent, the sunglasses, the way they were acting like the Jiffy Lube was Pit Road. Apparently my car was a little bit of a challenge, with the German engineering and all. It was weird but amusing. I also finished off the rest of my NetFlix movies. Walk the Line...very good, but everytime I kept looking at "June Carter", I kept seeing "Reese Witherspoon...with cute brown hair". *smh*
This morning was also full of the unexpected. I had a dream about church. The literal building. And it's been a little while since the last time I went with Nate. I woke up this morning and decided to go. I felt oddly overdressed (it's one of those more casual "family" churches), but it was all good. It was a very emotional service today about "Justification, Rejuvenation, and Adoption". People were crying all over the place. I hate to see people cry for any reason...and, though I was extremely moved, I didn't allow myself to feel the full range of emotions I felt washing over me. I still have a certain level of discomfort with this church and it makes me feel weird.
Anyway, I'm going to finish watching my Classic Movie of the Weekend, do some laundry, and go take a nap. This weekend's movie is "Desk Set," starring of course Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn.
