I have been convinced to do the
Yuletide FanFiction Exchange by a persuasive friend. This is entirely new to me and I am rather nervous; I haven't written anything, really, since college, and nothing fiction-like since earlier still. I must be mad.
So.
Dear my secret author person,
Wow, you share at least one of my obscure fandoms, that is very excting! I love it when other people like the same thing as me. I'm fairly new to FanFiction, so please be kind to my fandoms. I'm sure I will be thrilled with anything, really, but I would generally prefer not-porn fiction.
And so, the fandoms I picked; I went with four because I couldn't make up my mind what to eliminate:
The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, Michael Chabon
This was one of the few books I enjoyed that I read for my **coughPretentiousNovelscough** Pulitzer Prize Winner Book Club. I was so nuts about Joe that I was considering reading the spin-off comics, despite never having ever actually read a superhero comic book. I have no particular requests, really, I just got to the end and wanted more, during the story, before, after, I don't care.
I Capture the Castle, Dodie Smith
I reread this novel recently, in the height of my World War II obsession, and was consumed with curiosity about what happened to the Mortmains and the Cottons during the War. I couldn't decide what I wanted for any of them, and would love to read what anyone else might do with them. Or perhaps they live in a slightly alternate universe, and there is no war.
Pushing Daisies
I loved the whimsy of Pushing Daisies. The totally absurd bizarre mysteries. The colorful visuals, which of course you can't do in written fiction. I was actually rather pleased with the ending, even if it was too soon, but I always wanted Ned and Chuck to have some sort of happy ending.
The Lion Hunters, Elizabeth Wein
These are my ongoing obsession, I read The Winter Prince when it was brand new, and waited impatiently between all sequels. I would read anything. My favorites characters are Lleu, Telemakos, and Goewin. But if you pick this, it would totally make my day, and I would read absolutely anything.
And so. Those are my wishes. I don't really like violence/gore, or tragedy, especially at Christmas time.
love,
Me
(Also, clearly, I don't actually maintain my LiveJournal, I have the account to comment on others. But I do have an active blog, where I often talk about what I'm reading, and the link is in the only other entry on this LJ.)
