All three of these hurt to read, but are beautifully done. Thank you for some interesting insight into both brothers.

Thank you. :3 I seem to have been on an angst binge lately... I do have plans for something more cheerful. Whether it will get written or not is another thing entirely. :P

Oh, that's lovely. Given that canon has Mycroft being the only one knowing Sherlock, in fact, hadn't died, this is an interesting twist to it.

And the 'affectionate brother', of course, HAS one wondering.

I had the canon in mind when I was writing it but I thought, "You know what would be really terrible and angsty? If Mycroft thought that Sherlock was dead." And apparently that was a good enough reason for me to mix the circumstances up a bit. I like to think that Sherlock is a good forum to take some respectful liberties with the ACD originals. :D I'd rather like to write something explaining why Sherlock had to keep the secret from Mycroft...

Thank you for all the great comments you left. I'm really pleased that you enjoyed reading the fic. I'm a little embarrassed that you found 'Taste versus Effect'. It was written more than a year ago - plenty of time for me to become properly ashamed of my poor writing. :P

Oh this was beautiful :) (I only just got some time to read it properly)

I love your Mycroft, you write him so beautifully, it's totally spot-on -- I only rarely find a fan-written Mycroft that I find really convincing. I love everything about these three chapters and I don't even know how to articulate half of how much I love this. I like how sad but emotional it is, and it's so engrossing -- the past few weeks have been hectic and I haven't had the patience to read much of anything, not even fanfic, but this pulled me in so much I had to keep going :)

I think at the moment the series canon (other than Mycroft's statement about worrying about Sherlock incessantly) still likes to play more on their sibling rivalry and maybe focuses on it a bit too much, I hope that once they start to develop the relationship more, their writing will be even half as good as this :)
