What the protesters did that I think was truely disrespectful was not bothering to give any attention or direct respect to the representation of military in the parade, I don't like the fact that on Memorial Day the idea of children protesting the war got more recognition then the people that signed up to fight for our country wether the war was for better or worse. I don't think that we are fighting a war for the greatest reasons either, but we are and If I was able to I would fight alongside our troops I would, they were called to fight for our country and they did, and despite whatever war, I have the utmost respect for them. Of course war has its casualties, war is fighting and killing. My brother was announced dead while he was on the battlefield, it was a miracle that he survived whatsoever. He has no use of his right arm because of nerve damage, and his ear drum exploded. Right now he is extremely reliant on pain medication, and has been for the past year and a half, it has gotten bad enough that he cant really function without them. Of course war has its costs, im in no way trying to belittle your relatives and the soldiers of Veitnam. I have heard stories of his friends who have post traumatic stress syndrome so badly that they have actually taken lives since they got back. But I still support them for being over there. The other part that I had a problem in was to tell them mother of a dead US Marine not a thank you, but that her son was wrong for fighting and the war is wrong and his life was taken in vain, seems to me a pretty shitty way of celebrating memorial day. Also, yes I am white, yes I am christian, and yes I am a republican, If you like you can also talk about me being female. But I have never been rich, and I am not even middle class, I am republican based on morals, Ideals and logic not my parents political opinions. And I plan on staying in Washington simply for the fact that my political side needs to be represented here just as much as your political side does. Honestly I think you are putting too much power into my hands by saying that I, or people with opinions like mine, are ruining this state for you, but thats your choice to think of it as ruined. I think that its a shame that we can not be as great as texas was at commemorating our fallen and living soldiers on memorial day, and that is my point.
