Unfinished Book Meme (Stolen from Shteevie)

What we have here is the top 106 books most often marked as "unread" by LibraryThing’s users. As in, they sit on the shelf to make you look smart or well-rounded. Bold the ones you've read, underline the ones you read for school, italicize the ones you started but didn't finish.

Apparently I've still got a few to go... )

Are these in any particular order? I've had prescription drugs that weren't as good at putting me to sleep as The Silmarillion, and I loved everything else of his I've read.

There was a survey (so wish that I could find it) of university students, focusing on grad students. It was looking at penmenship, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
English students scored the lowest in spelling and medicine and science scored the highest.
Why?
Well, in English we don't learn spelling. We learn how to read, for the most part. Reading rarely ever looks at the whole word, but rather, the shape of the word and the first and last letter of the word. to see the whole word all the time would put our brain into overload.
But in science, especially medicine, and misspell can mean the difference between species, or in prescriptions, life or death. Now, they are taught spelling everyday, but they don't necessarily read lots. Just the important words.
Plus, there is no spell check for science. It just hasn't been made yet...
