Yes, that's exactly what I was looking for! You used the experience as inspiration to lead a better more aware life. Thanks for understanding :) I suppose the examples I gave were too violence-oriented, because this is another way to heal and get past it, with self-kindness rather than forcing yourself to change to be aggressive, yet still not withdrawn or weak.

You also have to realize that everyone heals differently. Even I had a period of stress and turmoil after my rape and it took time to realize the spiral that my life was becoming. I was determined to be the person I wanted to be and so I turned it around with help. Some people don't get that far but it may not be weakness just a lack of resources. I had loving friends and family to help me. Not all victims and survivors do! Most rape victims and survivors to not resort to violence (self or otherwise). If anything they withdraw into themselves or seek comfort in unhealthy ways - drugs, multiple sexual partners, etc.

Hmmm... excellent point, the purpose of such communities would be to substitute or supplement loving friends. I think that friends can substitute for family, so that covers it all.

What I was looking for were people who were coping free of unhealthy habits. They post about them, but I find it hard to accept the sincerity that they want to stop.

So long as they find comfort, they will continue the behavior. Unless something negative happens, they will not change. I changed because I realized that my actions were of no benefit to me in my life, school or career!

Yeah... it's hard to make changes like that... very emotional. Upon success, empowering over and obvious adversary and experience to surpass.
