(no subject)
After dragging my feet for a while, I finally watched the season finale two parter for RID2015.
That Optimus transformation/reformat sequence - - - ! *FLAIL*
Also I liked that even though there was not really a lot of plot and it was mostly action, they maintained the small character touches that ground that kind of thing. (Grimlock giving Bumblebee a hand off the ground and setting him back on his feet, Fixit's quiet ferocity in someone else's defense, basically everything about Bumblebee interacting with Optimus, Grimlock's frantic little "it's hurting them!" response to his teammates vulnerable and in pain...)
That said, it kind of feels like a waste of Steeljaw. He's much scarier and more interesting when he's insisting he's somehow the first among equals, and doing the forced teaming 'we' thing instead of 'I'. That's a big change in his dialogue and in things he says in front of other people in these two episodes, and I don't think it works, especially since he doesn't even really try to manipulate Megatronus. It makes him less of an effective foil to Bumblebee? I think is part of why this feels like a narrative problem to me.
*sigh* Oh well. Maybe that thread will get picked back up. It's not the kind of thing that's lost forever if it gets dropped for a few episodes.
And now I've seen what's currently out, and can go back to TF: Prime, and also write fic!
