Meme from etrangere:

RULES: Comment and I'll LJ stalk you to find THREE FANDOMS you apparently love. And then you answer these questions about them!

01: What got you into this fandom in the first place?
02: Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
03: Favorite episodes/books/movies/etc.?
04: Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
05: Do you think that more people should get into this fandom?

Farscape

01: What got you into this fandom in the first place?

I was at my grandfolks’, and the Science Fiction Channel was re-running the entire thing in a marathon prior to showing the (then never before and brand new) mini-series. I came in midway through They’ve Got a Secret and oh my gosh, the ship was pregnant. And this was her primary concern! And the guy who looked like he was supposed to be the All American Action Hero was clearly actually a total softie who wasn’t even trying to cover it up! And and and PILOT.

I was hooked.

02: Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?

I am not currently in it much, because I haven’t watched the show in what feels like forever. I want to re-watch! I love the show, it is twisty and zany and disturbing and fun, and writing episode tags for it and wee bits of Moya And Her Crew type gen is deeply satisfying.

03: Favorite episodes/books/movies/etc.?

I think my absolute favorite is actually The Way We Weren’t, which is a weird one, I know, but it made this really intense impression on me, and also, as I have said before, PILOT.

04: Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?

I did when I didn’t feel like my memory of the show was embarrassingly fuzzy!

05: Do you think that more people should get into this fandom?

I think people who like that kind of thing in the first place would love it! Farscape is an awesome show, it’s like watching someone pull a gyroscope and somehow keep it going for four years, and the fandom is full of fun, low key, comfortably crazy people who like Baniks and plot twists and unconventional gender roles in their romance! So, yes.

Tokyo Babylon/X

01: What got you into this fandom in the first place?

Oh, man, I don’t even remember, it was so, so long ago. I think I liked Card Captor Sakura first and then went looking for more of Clamp’s stuff? And this was long enough ago that it was not easy, especially for an extremely shy girl who wasn’t super good at y’know, talking to people. So, by sheer necessity, I had to get into the fansites.

Which, actually, was really one of my first experiences of internet fandom. It was all pretty lurky for a long while.

02: Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?

I have moved on. Multiple times. I keep coming back, though. I’m not always sure why, but there’s stuff there I haven’t explored or dealt with yet. So. Coming back.

(Like Kusanagi. He fascinates me. I kind of want to write long, plotty gen fic about him, but this requires all kinds of groundwork I haven’t actually laid.)

03: Favorite episodes/books/movies/etc.?

The Smile story from Tokyo Babylon. Oh, Hokuto. <3 You have to love a woman who writes spells on the ground in lipstick.

04: Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?

Off and on. Not that consistently, though.

05: Do you think that more people should get into this fandom?

Oh, I think Tokyo Babylon in particular is always worth reading (X too, but only if This Is Probably Always Going To Be Unfinished doesn’t bother you much).

Avatar

01: What got you into this fandom in the first place?

The show had been getting good reviews, so I watched it!

…And then I realized that nearly everyone was writing fic about the Fire Nation despite there being three other major cultural groups and that nearly all said fic was about Fire Nation royalty and not the obviously far more awesome subject of their totally badass engineers and possible industrial unionism.

Clearly, I had to rectify that.

02: Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?

I haven’t finished my highly meta-ish epics yet! I can’t leave now!

03: Favorite episodes/books/movies/etc.?

Oh, man, how can I pick? I tend to go particularly gooey over episodes that have to do with the Spirit World, if only because that’s an aspect of the world that intrigues me - its religious practice, I mean. And episodes that have to do with day to day life, the ins and outs of it, so Tales of Ba Sing Se is high up there, and so is The Siege of the North, and I have a deep love for The Winter Solstice parts I and II, and The Avatar and the Firelord makes me so happy and - I should stop, or I’ll list most of the series.

04: Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?

Yes! Maybe not as much as I’d like. Most of the discussions I run across are about character and relationship - and don’t get me wrong, I love the characters and the relationships, but most of what I have to say has to do with world building. Because I am a dork.

05: Do you think that more people should get into this fandom?

It’s a beautiful show and I need more people to blither about the implications of Hei-Bai with! Come! Join me! We can write about fishing cooperatives!
