Christmas!!!

It's true-I don't celebrate Christmas, at least not in the true sense. I celebrate the commercialized aspect of Christmas, the big tree covered in ornaments, and of course, the presents!!!! But, honestly, I wonder how many people celebrate this holiday as the birth of Christ????

Though I don't celebrate Christmas for its religious aspect, it's still an important part of my life. In my culture (I'm a Hindu, for the record), we have several holidays. There's Holi, the festival of colors, where we play, eat good food, wear new clothes, get presents, and then there's Diwali, festival of light, where we set off fireworks, eat good food, wear new clothes, get presents, and then there are some other minor holidays where we eat good food, wear new clothes, get presents...are we sensing a pattern here? The point is, in my culture, we love good food, wearing new clothes and giving/receiving presents-something that everyone does during this time of year. So yes I do celebrate commercialized Christmas-but more because my family celebrates the idea of gift giving.

In other news, BREAK HAS STARTED!!!!! I am so excited to be able to catch up on my sleep, hang out with family and friends, and work on my writings (especially the Narnia Mini-Bang fic!)

And now I say good bye wishing everyone the best for whatever you celebrate- Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Commercialized Christmas, or if you celebrate nothing, have a good break.

break, christmas
