Tales of Coffee from A Non-Coffee drinker

As someone who doesn't drink coffee I find it interesting to hear the tales of my co-workers about the where the best capuchino is to be found. Some say go here for the best beans or there where they use the optimal amount of steam to heat the mixture of coffee and milk without burning it. As someone who doesn't drink the stuff it seems a bit of argument rather like how many angels can dance on the head of a pin.

I have heard that there a type of coffee that is very different to the rest. Something very strange called Coffee Luwack. My father had mentioned once or twice that there is a mythical type of coffee in Indonesia that comes from the bum of the Luwack or Asian Palm Civet. This is a mammal that wonders through the coffee plantations of Indonesia eating only the best and ripest berries on the trees. The beans has through their guts and end up in the dung. The stools are collected by farmers and the beans extracted. As well as being the ripest berries on the tree they also are softened by the digestive juices of the Luwack.

For a long time only vaguely knew about this strange coffee. Then a couple of weeks ago I turned on ABC to foreign correspondent and saw their postcard from Sumatra.
