They've been broken up for a while now. Russell seems to have this problem where he tools out to girls that are a complete waste of time. And then they cheat on him. They were "engaged" too. Her name was even added to Russell's mom's house's morgage for some ungodly reason.

I'd heard about the mortgage thing, his mom is way too nice for her own good, and probably a bit too hopeful. I can kind of see why he'd enlist though after everything...Ah well.

No, I can't see why he'd enlist. But to quote PJ, "Let's just see if he's more loyal to his country than to his friends :x" Knee-jerk reaction.

Well, like I said, only kind of. And, well, everyone makes mistakes in a quick reaction its just a matter of if you can fix it or not.

He has a long, wreckless streak of poor decisions, which included pushing away his friends. He doesn't seem to want to fix any of his mistakes, only run away from them.
