It has long been an irritation of mine that Macromedia had not bothered to write a Flash player for Mac that didn't suck from here till Tuesday. As far as I could tell, a Mac played Flash animations at about a third the speed of a comparable Windows PC. Flash animations were annoying even on my dual 1.8 GHz G5, and Flash games were impossible.

No longer.

Apparently Macromedia realized that all they needed to do was plug into the Apple-provided OpenGL framework and all would be fine and dandy, instead of writing their own software rasterizers which they didn't really bother to optimize.

Indeed, this change brings the love. If you use Mac OS X and plan to view Flash content in the next ever, go and get Macromedia Flash Player 8.
