Beauty and joy to share

Dec 04, 2010 10:25

So, hoodland... There is a lot to share from the last challenges, both work and intense joy. One of the last challenges was to make a film poster of a fanfic in the fandom. I wish I was allowed to show them ALL, a lot of fantastic work! WARNING! This is a crazy post of FLAIL, JOY AND LOVE!! I share it because this is so special to me.

There are three posters in this post; my own and two others, posted by permission of the artists.

Mine:

A Guy/Marian fangirl must love Fallout by bookishy! Read and re-read this amazing fic at bookishy_fic. It's more than fanfic! This writer was recently published with an original work. Fallout was one of the first fics I stumbled upon when I went out for my hungry hunting of G/M fanfic, nearly two years ago. In this film poster challenge, there were no less than three posters for Fallout! All of them very good, along with other lovely artwork for several G/M fics!

My poster won third prize. I was flailing; I really put my heart into this. Seeing there were so many awesome entries and many of them for G/M fics, I'm even more grateful for my bronze! I honestly like this artwork best of all I've done. I'm not a natural talent for these things, but I try and have to put a lot of work into it. This gave me a sense of pride and satisfaction, which is one of the best things about hoodland; it's leading to development and new insights.

shinysparks

Last year, I wrote a G/M Secret Santa fic for shinysparks called Wonderbare. I could tell she loved it, I just never understood how deeply.

When I saw this entry... OK. I'm a positive and happy kind of person, despite life going up and down. There is much to be happy about in life. As you grow older, the moments of intense and incredible happiness - the kind of happiness that makes you nearly faint, then cry, then laugh, then dance around like a maniac - get more rare. Perhaps that's a good thing. When it DOES happen, it takes a while to come down from cloud nine. 8-)

Well, it happened when I saw this entry.

I mean, look at them. ♥ Imagine this fic made into an animated film in this style. I just... I'm going to cry again. That's how I work, OK? Man, I wish we were lesbians, Shiny! Life is so unfair!! ;-)

You can see this and a larger version of the poster in shinysparks' LJ, along with other things she did for hoodland. Don't miss them! Sharing is caring! ♥

robinfanatic

I thought I was going to die that day, seeing two AMAZING posters made from my fics! This was made from the mini-drabble Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me. Well, making THAT fic into a film would give the makers a lot of freedom to forge a story! :-D A story of blood and passion, I'd say! Oh, how I'd love to see that!

I love this poster to distraction! It captures both darkness and light, and the ambiguity of the drabble. Thank you, robinfanatic, from the bottom of my heart! ♥

The winner of the challenge was kadamanja with a poster of jagnikjen's fic Marian: Through the Looking Glass. If you're friends with jagnikjen, you can see it in her journal, along with another poster made for the same fic by tiah15! BEAUTIFUL POSTERS! ♥ I hope you get a chance to see!

Another beautiful Fallout poster, made by ladykate63, cen be seen here, on the RH Yuku Board!

I do wish more Hoodland player shared what they'd done; we all make fantastic stuff and, as I said: sharing IS caring! It may seem boastful, but the truth is that this fandom produces things of true beauty and we all compete on equal terms, since we are all so talented. Talent should not have to hide away, it should roam free, at least when the challenges are over! :-)
