Nottingham New's Challenge 1 & 2, FanMix redux challenge... Long post is long! Sorry about edits and size!

I'm not saving the best for last. Proud of this and got a joint bronze medal with emmithar. Silver for spamjoe and gold to shinysparks. Awesome entries! Don't miss out on them! :-D

I was so satisfied with that pic of sheriff and PJ, both looked so smug. My take on it: sheriff obviously controls the media in Nottingham. The rest pure fun! Everyone else looks annoyed, except for Mr. Dungeon. Also glad that I kept PJ as a ginger. ;-)

Before that, we wrote an article. No medals there and it turned out rather anecdotal. The idea was once again that the sheriff controls the paper and the look on events must at least make him and his ideas look less incompetent. Some may also see it in their interest to make sure that what appears in print is written from a advantageous angle. ;-)

Dead Robin Hood Was Not Dead!

Yesterday morning, the sheriff assigned a young knight fresh from the Crusades to beat Robin Hood and the outlaws in their own game. When Nottingham's bravest men did their duty in the idle village of Clun, where the villagers had refused to pay taxes, the infamous band of outlaws attacked. Malicious rumours say that a woman was seen in their midst, a rumour that has proved unfounded before. The outlaws are rubble and attract no women. During the ugly fight in Clun, Carter managed to interfere in the combat and managed to save precious lives, but he got caught by the wolfshead and his pack and was brought to their lair. Several people of Clun and the sheriff's men were wounded and killed because of the outlaw attack.

During mid-day, Robin Hood was seen in Clun again with Carter, now in tow. There was once again reports about fighting and it seemed that the outlaws were put out of action and that "someone was laughing on the wrong side of his face". Possibly, the outlaws also attacked a mother superior from the Ripley Convent this same day, while she was out walking with some of her postulants. The mother superior refused to say if anything was lost in the attack but valiantly said she would pray for the handsome perpetrator. It is said that the noble and grieving Lady Marian was among the group of postulants and in her shock and confusion, she left the group and wandered to Nottingham, where she was later seen.

In the evening, the brave knight from the Crusades entered into town with a dead Robin Hood on a cart. For a glorious moment, our shire seemed to be freed of its worst infestation. People were crying in relief as the cart rolled by towards the castle and the noble and indefatigable Sir Guy was ready to prove Robin Hood's death by himself. In that moment, Lady Marian called out for attention and the master-at-arms took care of the upset noblewoman. Carter made sure that Robin Hood was brought inside to the Great Hall, where the sheriff was waiting.

What happened next is not clear, but while Sir Guy consoled the grief-struck Lady Marian and persuaded her to return to the convent for the sake of her soul and reputation, he was unable to stop the outlaw's sinister plan. It seemed that Carter had been fooled into believing that Robin Hood was dead. The wolfshead managed to steal a hefty sum of money that was to be Carter's reward and while Hood ran through the castle for his escape, Carter was chasing him. The knight was even brave enough to jump after Hood from the battlements into a hay cart, provided by the gang. But he failed to catch Hood and was the outlaw's captive once more, until he managed to fight himself free and return to the Holy Land.

The sheriff laments the outcome of this event and assures the inhabitants of the shire that all power invested in him from God and The Crown will be put into action to capture Robin Hood and his gang.

I have a fanmix. Well, half a fanmix. We were asked not to do downloads and my smallstring broadband doesn't make me a mistress of  download/upload anyway. But there's a Youtube playlist that I made for this, in case you'd like to listen to some of my 80s favourites and newer stuff that puts me in a Guy & Marian mood.

Dunno what to say about this. I love strong colour and liked the fire theme, even if it felt like an exploded mango afterwards. ;-) Well, it my first fanmix so I can haz exploding mango?

Also, long song lyrics explanation as a bonus. :-P

1. Kate Bush - Hounds of Love (Marian)
Hiding in the dark
Hiding in the street
And of what was hunting me
Now hounds of love are hunting...

2. Kanye West - Amazing (Guy)
I'm a monster, I'm a maven
I know this world is changin'
Never gave up, never gave in
I'm the only thing I'm afraid of

3. Eliza Doolittle - Skinny Genes (Naughty Marian)
I really don't like your arrogance or your policies
You're 99% an embarrassment with just one quality
I don't mind it when you *whistles*
Brings out the best in me when you *whistles*

4. Ben's Brother - Stuttering (Kiss Me Again) (Shy, socially inept Guy.)
So tell me what I'm supposed to do
Oh, it's been ages since we've been really honest
but I can make ch-ch-ch-changes if you really want this
So kiss me again...

5. U2 - The Unforgettable Fire (Passionate Guy.)
Stay in this time, stay tonight in a lie
Ever after this love in time, and if you
save your love, save it all, see all
Don't push me too far

6. PJ Harvey - Black Hearted Love (Marian fighting her passion.)
I think I saw you in the shadows
I move in closer beneath your windows
Who would suspect me of this rapture?
And who but my black hearted love...

7. Pet Shop Boys - Can You Forgive Her? (Guy's anguish and doubt.)
You're in love, and it feels like shame
Because she's gone and made a fool of you in public again
You're in love, and it feels like pain
Because you know there's too much truth in everything she claims

8. The Divine Comedy - The Certainty of Chance (Impossible hope.)
And I believe
I can see it all so clearly now
You must go and I must set you free
’cause only that will bring you back to me

9. Enrique Iglesias - Tired of Being Sorry (Hopelessly impossible.)
When in the rest of the world
With whom I've crossed and I've quarreled
Lets me down so
For a thousand reasons that I know

10. Katie Melua - The Flood (Kind of hopeful happy end.)
Don't trust your eyes, it's easy to believe them
Know in your heart that you can leave your prison
Don't trust your mind, it's not always listening
Turn on the lights and feel the ancient rhythm

Well, so some of them are shamelessly inspired by Guy and Guy/Marian vids I've seen. Guilty! I wasn't the only one, lalalalaaa!

1. Kate Bush: well, one of my domestic godesses for ages and ages. Young Marian's wish to be free of social convention and marriage. Will love tie her down?

2. Kanye West: Guy is mighty, hear him *rawr*.

3. Eliza Doolittle: wonderfully quirky little song and singer! Perfectly naughty! ;-)

4. Ben's Brother: Adorkable Guy, I think about that scene in 1x05 where he comes to Knighton and sees Marian half naked. ;-) Also: "I can make changes if you really want this."

5. U2: Love the song, love the LP (as it was when I bought it). Haunting, passionate song.

6. PJ Harvey: Marian fighting her feelings (and seeing half-naked Guy, LOL).

7. Pet Shop Boys: fav pop band save ABBA, fav album, probably fav song. CD was even more orange than my fanmix. VERY orange. Guy can't stay away, even if certain things make him cringe.

8. The Divine Comedy: Adore them, or rather bombastic him; Neil Hannon. Drama! Let go, have her back.

9. Enrique Iglesias: Weariness and frustration leading to carelessness.

10. Katie Melua: There's always hope! ♥ Besides, Katie Melua looks like she could be Guy and Marian's daughter, she's even wearing an awesome leather dress with buckles. She's also surrounded by gorgeous, dancing men wearing only tight briefs, it's sexy and slashy. Had to chose some lyric from this. Love it all, really. "Blame, no-one is to blame..."

Here's the Youtube playlist. I hope you can see most of it, knowing YT...
