Victim of a blind date set-up

You have friends. They care. They want what's best for you.
Or rather: they want to see you with someone, so that they know how to define you.
If nothing else, you'll be back in the relationship limbo where we all live happily ever after.
Right?
Well.
Now and then, there is one man or other who they declare will be perfect for you!
They may even be right, it's been known to happen.
You and this man must meet.
Your friends make plans.
They boast about your cooking skills and persuade you to do lunch for these two friends, this man and yourself.
Aaah, it will be so niiiice.
They casually let slip that the man is a vegetarian.
Nothing wrong with that, only wish you'd known sooner.
They make you change lunch making plans quite considerably.
While you stand sweating over carrots in a wok, they tell you that no one can make it for lunch.
They will come in the evening.
Maybe around 5 pm.
You know these people. 5 pm means 8 in the evening, at the very earliest.
They say that the man is excited and flattered that a strange woman wants to invite him for dinner.
MEH!?!!??
You had some other plans for this day as well, but not anymore.
You put carrots inte the fridge.
You think: "I'm too old for this. I'm definitely too old for these hasty changes of plans."

Maybe you'll keep the food in the fridge with a note: "Help yourselves" and leave?
That would make it a very blind date.

Dating and falling in love...
Remind me, does that make you feel better?
Filled with anticipation?
Irritated?
Hungry?

rant, friends, family, relationships, food, love
