Okay, first off, I wanted to announce my new shit site!
http://www.baggily-pantz.webs.com Yeah, I know I probably use this for everything, but whatever.
It's still in the fetal stage, but, well, check it out if ya want...
Also, I thought that I hadn't posted a story in too long, so, um, here!
This is actually, weirdly enough, my most popular story.
You sick freaks...
Enjoy! ^_^
P.S. I noticed the pattern between this and another story I've already posted. Life skills points to however can figure out which one I'm talking about. ^_^
P.P.S. This is the longest short story I've written, so, yeah, good luck.
P.P.P.S. Italics are not flashbacks. ^_^ Figure that out! heh heh...
Tell me what ya think!!! ^_^
I flipped open the toilet seat, and emptied my stomach’s very little contents into the bowl. I gagged before wiping my mouth with the back of my hand. I wiped my other hand across my incredibly sweaty forehead.
I shakily got to my feet and stumbled to the sink, gazing at my reflection. My once white capped shirt was stained scarlet. I set to work on washing my hands. I scrubbed them roughly, nearly breaking the skin. I needed it off my hands. Even when the crimson life-giving liquid was gone, I still felt it. I still smelled it. I still saw it. I even still tasted it. It tasted like iron and…
I nearly threw up again, but I physically couldn’t (I hadn’t eaten much today). I fell to the floor, shaking and shivering in the corner. I tried to sort through what had just happened.
His face flashed through my mind, and I gripped my head.
I didn’t…he wasn’t supposed to…no one was supposed to…!!

I was supposed to meet my best friend-Shawn-outside my dad’s house, where he would pick me up, we would probably go see a movie, then he would give me a ride to my mom’s.
My parents got divorced about 4 months ago, and custody had been awarded to my mother, but I stayed with my dad on weekends. Shawn usually picked me up every Saturday and Sunday to drive me back and forth, and for some reason I couldn’t remember (I hadn’t been listening), his younger brother, Luke, would join us today.
We had been best friends since I could remember, and both of us would be seniors this year (making little Luke a junior), signifying countless years of friendship, and our entrée into adulthood.
Man, that got scarier every time I thought about it.
I kicked a rock in front of my foot, incredibly bored. I would’ve waited inside, but my dad had a “hot date,” and couldn’t be late.
Um, ew.
I’ll take 20 years of therapy to get that mental image out of my mind, thank you.
I saw Shawn’s crappy Camry drive up in front of the house. I waved, smiling brightly. I greeted the brothers, always excited to see Shawn. “Hey, guys!”
Luke shot me a glare. Whatever, I felt exactly the same about him. Shawn hit his brother’s shoulder, making Luke roll his eyes and leave the passenger seat.
I always sat up front-it was an unspoken rule.
I climbed in, giving Shawn a quick hug. “Where to?”
Shawn shrugged. “Um, how about the movies?”
“Perfect! What do you want to see?”
We quickly decided to head over to the nearest theatre and see some movie about a girl who discovers a doorway to another dimension in her house. I don’t know any more about that, but it was in 3-D and could potentially provide some great scary moments for me to latch onto Shawn’s always wonderfully warm black wool jacket.
Luke probably complained, but I wasn’t listening/didn’t care. Shawn hit the gas, and drove about 3 times the speed limit in order to make it in time.
[]
Someone was pounding on the door. “Chelsea? Are you okay?”
Oh God, what would I tell Shawn? Luke was…
He resumed his pounding, and it was as though he was hitting my head instead of the door the separated us.
Finally, he opened the door-of course I would forget to lock it. Only me, and only at a time like this…
Shawn fell onto the floor beside me, and pulled me close. I threw my arms around him, sobbing. “Shawn, he…!!”
He shushed me. “I know…”
Wha…? “How do you know?!” I was beginning to get hysterical.
He pulled back and cupped my cheeks with his hands. “I saw everything. It’s okay.”
“How is it okay?!”
“It was an accident.”
I bit the inside of my cheek. “I didn’t mean to, I swear…”
He stroked my cheek with his thumb. “I know, I know…” He stood suddenly, pulling me up behind him. “We have to go.”
“Go?”
“The paramedics will be here soon, and I think the police will be too.” He informed me, and I suddenly registered the sound of sirens-far off, but getting louder with every second.
Shawn dragged me out of the ratty bathroom, and we ran.
[]
We arrived at the theatre with minutes to spare. We were handed our 3-D glasses, and took our seats.
I was sharing some popcorn with them, munching loudly and happily. The lights dimmed, and the movie started.
At every opportunity (and some that wouldn’t scare a 2 year old), I squeaked and grabbed Shawn’s jacket. By the time the girl had black buttons placed in front of her, I was snuggled into his shoulder with his arm around me, and popcorn resting between us.
I flushed madly as he leaned down towards my head. My heart went wild, trying to beat through my skin to him. Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God…!!!
“Where’d Luke go?”
Luke? Who’s this “Luke” of which you speak?
I growled internally at that stupid, little… “Um, I dunno, I didn’t see him leave…”
He groaned. “Damn it…he probably left to go to that club, then…”
I asked him what he was talking about, and he explained that Luke had been raving about this club called “Massive” for weeks on end.
I had never heard Luke talk about it. I had, however, heard plenty about it from the news. All kinds of bad stuff went down there-that whole clichéd “sex, drugs, rock ‘n’ roll” sort of thing-and I could understand why Shawn would want his baby brother out of there.
[]
We turned the corner, panting as we skidded on the hideous sidewalk that once was probably made of concrete, but now consisted of cigarette butts, trash, and blood. We jumped in his car, and he drove. I don’t where he was going, and, looking back, I don’t think he did either. We both just needed to get out of there.
He quickly came to the city limits, and we were on a dirt road, just driving amongst the cacti and a few animals. We saw an old, abandoned-looking house down the road, and we pulled in.
I felt something wet run down my cheeks, and I realized that I was crying. In the last hour, my life had been turned upside down, and I worried that it would never right itself again.
[]
It was the quintessential club. There were large bouncers with ear buds in their ears (looking more like Secret Service rather than security guards), dark red velvet ropes, and a long line. Shawn swerved into a parking spot around the corner and out of sight from the club, and we jumped out, heading for the start of the line. Shawn leaned in and spoke to the bouncer. Somehow, we were let in right away. When I asked Shawn how he did that, he answered “With madd skillz…and 3 twenties.”
A techno beat pulsed through the very walls of the club, ruining anyone’s chances at communication. Shawn took my hand-sending a shiver up my spine-and we searched through the dark club as best we could. We found him with his head against the bar, a beer in his hand. I rolled my eyes as I led Shawn to his brother. Luke was too drunk to stand, and kept saying these incredibly indecent remarks that I would prefer not to think about.
I helped Shawn get Luke outside. I thanked the bouncer, and we walked down the street a bit. Shawn turned to me to speak. “Okay, I’m going to grab my car, then come around and grab you guys, okay?”
I nodded, although I was not crazy about being alone with Luke, especially a drunk Luke. Shawn thanked me and ran off and out of sight.
Luke stirred, and I squirmed a bit to get him into a comfortable position on my shoulders. I heard a low chuckle emit from him, and I turned. I was a bit mortified and completely surprised to see him giving a look that spoke volumes I didn’t want to hear from him. “Hey, Chels…” he spoke with a heavy slur on his words. “Whatsha doin’?”
“Waiting for your brother.”
He scowled. “I dunno what you shee in him…if I had someone like yew waitin’…” His hand began to trail much lower than apporpriate. “I would take advantagesh…”
I shoved him off. “Luke, you’re drunk.”
“Sho?”
“Sho?” I was appalled. “I don’t feel anything but…indigestion for you, Luke.”
“Sho?”
I rolled my eyes. “Just, no.”
He pulled my chin roughly towards him, but I managed to move before his lips crashed against mine. I heaved him off of me, and he tumbled backwards into the street. He stumbled a moment, glaring drunkenly at me, before everything turned white.
When I could see again, Luke was flying through the air, and he landed in a tangled heap in the middle of the street. I ran over, shaking his shoulders, the knees of my jeans getting soaked with his…Oh dear God…
I pulled my hands away to see Luke’s blood covering my hands. I screamed, along with every other girl in the line for Massive.
I turned quickly to see the patrons shouting and calling 911. One girl shouted that she saw me push him in front of the car, her finger even pointing accusingly at me.
Before I knew what had happened, or what I was doing, I ran.
[]
We went inside, and it was indeed abandoned. Shawn pulled the drapes, and we hid there, unable to do or fell anything. I think we were both still in shock.
After a small eternity, there was a pounding on the door. Shawn got up to open it, but I grabbed his hand, silently begging him to stay. Nothing good could be behind that door.
The window shattered, and a body flew through the new hole behind the glass shards. The body blob stood to reveal…
“Luke?!” Shawn shouted happily, running to throw his arms around his thought-dead brother. My knees knocked as I leaned heavily against the nearby wall, even more scared than before.
“How did you get here?” Shawn asked.
With that, I became too dazed to fully process what was going on. Apparently, Luke stole a car or something, and followed us. I think that’s what he said, anyways. Though, I didn’t truly return to the conversation until Luke’s tone turned extremely patronizing.
Luke grinned evilly, and a shiver went down my spine. “Oh, brother…thank you for worrying, especially after you tried to kill me…”
I gasped, and Luke scowled. “You jumped in front of my car, I couldn’t stop…I called the paramedics…”
“You left me there to die, to go help her-the girl who almost killed me.”
Shawn scowled. “You don’t know what you’re saying; you need a doctor.”
Luke chuckled, almost-no, completely maniacally. He grabbed a shard of glass while Shawn moved to open the front door.
I saw what was coming. Before I knew what I was doing, I pounced on Luke, managed to wrestle him to the ground. Luke pinned me to the floor after a pathetically quick tumble, and grinned, holding the glass shard high.
So many thoughts ran through my mind: I never saw the world, I never finished the movie, I never finished high school, I never…
I never told Shawn.
Shawn…
He grabbed Luke and pulled him off of me. He struggled, trying to stab Shawn. They fell to the ground, and all I could was watch.
I saw a large shard of glass by my right hand, right before I saw Luke about to stab Shawn. Instinctively, I grabbed the shard and launched forward, attaching myself to Luke’s back, and stabbing him in the neck.
He fell lifeless on top of his brother. Shawn squirmed his way from beneath the body, and I jumped off when it registered in my mind what I had just done.
I began to cry, sobbing loudly as I threw the shard across the room, shattering into a million pieces on the opposite wall. I wasn’t expecting Shawn to take me into his arms as we both lamented the loss.
Eventually, Shawn slowly moved to his feet. “We need to get out of here…”
“What about-?”
“We need to get out of here.” He stated more firmly.
I nodded, realizing what was happening.
This was his coping mechanism-he needed this apathy to get through this.
We both walked as though we were going to our execution to his car. When he started it and we were driving down the path, I mulled over everything that had just happened. I remember when I thought I was going to die, and my regrets. While, at the moment, I couldn’t fix some, I realized that I could at least fix one. I turned to him, and took a deep, shuddering breath. “I love you.”
He nodded. “Yeah, I know.”
I accepted the answer, not sure what I had been expecting.
I pulled my knees to my chest, and quickly cried myself to sleep.
[]
“Chels?”
I mumbled, snuggling closer to my source of warmth. I finally opened my eyes, and realized that I was still in the theatre. “Shawn? Where are we?”
“Did you fall asleep during the movie again?”
I blinked. “I must’ve, right?”
He laughed, making a smile come to my face. “C’mon, we’ve gotta get going.”
We left the theatre, and, as we got in his car, I accidently sat on something. “Ow!”I yelped before looking down to see what it was.
It was the shard of glass from my dream, from when I…when I…
I glanced around us, freaking out. Where was he?!
“Shawn…” I asked as calmly as I could. “Where’s Luke?”
