Things started on Friday, which was our actual anniversary. I made a fancy dinner featuring wild sockeye salmon and a fresh-baked rhubarb and red fruit pie. So happy with how well everything came together - I got the cooking times spaced out perfectly so that everything was ready to be served at just the right time.
Saturday morning we drove up to Lake George and spent the day at Great Escape. It was awesome - we had the entire day to wander the park and do what we wanted, at our own pace. No rushing, no pressure, no time limit. The rain actually helped with that, rather than causing problems. Most of the regular park guests scattered when the rain started, leaving us and the other hardcores to enjoy every ride we liked, with no lines. It was awesome! Sure we got wet, but it's not like it was "Roses wet." I picked up a pretty red hoodie from one of the gift shops first thing that morning, and I stayed dry and cozy on the inside all day. The rain did eventually stop, giving us time to dry out while we continued to enjoy the park. We hit all the major coasters, most of them more than once. The only downside was that it never quite got warm enough to take advantage of the water park. Another time. That evening, as we were snuggling on the Sky Lift for the second time and contemplating what to do for dinner, Kevin suggested Sushi X. Like I'm going to argue when he's the one to suggest sushi. So I got to end the day with a favorite food.
Today was the Altamont Renn Faire. Kevin got to fence quite a bit, which always makes him happy. My ballroom coach and his family showed up, which was a great surprise, and I got to do some catching up. It's nice to know I'm still welcome at practice, even if I'm not on the team anymore. The cold wasn't horrible, especially since I brought my cloak. I got to see a falcon up close, which I haven't done in a long time. So overall it was a good experience.
Perfect weekend.
