What if the world is not what you see today
But painted in shades of gray?
If your eyes start out, closed to this
And open a little more with each glimpse
Of the world you grasp,
A changing time
When it becomes harder to breathe
The air you forgot how you receive
What if every lost word
Falls carelessly from your mouth
And lands on someone else’s shoulder
To stay there, forgotten as time grows older
What if right is an unreachable wrong
Something that can be strived for,
But is not meant to be found all along
And all that matters is all that you let fall behind
Caught on the things you crushed over time
What if all this can be found
In thousands of crinkled-up pages
That aren’t pressed and new,
But old and poorly bound
What if one person’s words
Can make a person see
They are not perfect
Only who they should be.
