This was not the plan

Fang lifts his head and barks sharply, and Thuringwethil turns from burping Opal to glance out a concealled window. Jade is here, with that bumbling secratary of hers, and cursing, Thuringwethil sets Opal back in her crib. This was not the plan: they are approaching from an angle completely different to any of her carefully laid paths. The paths had had warning signals strewn across them as well, and Thuringwethil finds herself in the uncomfortable position of being somewhat unprepared. "Someday," she murmurs fiercely, "I will remember not to underestimate her."

Fang lifts his head to her hand, and Thuringwethil strokes his head for a moment. "Go," she commands, and he howls, once, leaping for the exit. Thuringwethil turns back, scooping up Opal and retreating deeper into the lair. There is only one way inside, unless Jade and Hama have learned to walk through stone, and this time, they'll be forced to deal with things her way.
