It was refreshing. My folks were more generous than I believe that they should have been, but it was a kindness that I won't condemn them for. My family was all in attendance at my Grandmother's X-Mas, save my favorite uncle. He most out west last year and has become scarce. Miss him.
J. was as integrated into the family as I could have ever hoped. She even fell asleep amid all the conversation (just like my own mother, and several aunts will on occasion).
My uncle the engineer has his geothermal system running like a deer. It rocks. For every single unit of energy that he puts in, he gets four units out. Thank you latent solar heat. (The calculation is an estimate based on how much heat output he can get by spending that same amount of electricity for resistance heating.) The system heats a forced air unit. This means that if you run the system in reverse it functions as a central air-conditioning unit.
Our drives to and from were uneventful. My father's tumors seemed to have been removed with complete success. My father still has work through the rest of winter. My brother is going back to college to finish his degree. J. and I had a good time and are looking forward to next week.
