Campaign for Real Beauty

For a long time, Dove has been calling for changes in the general perception of women, in terms of their body image and self-esteem. At first, I wondered whether it is just part of their advertising gimmick to attract more women to purchase their products.

Apparently, they seem to be making further campaign to address this serious issue. Check out their web site at http://www.campaignforrealbeauty.com/ I am really happy that someone or some company is starting to do something to help women get better. Without Dove, I don’t know how many more women are going through anorexia, bulimia, and other diseases that often get overlooked by our sick society in America.
MTV, CNN, and major TV channels (except Newsweek) only address issue in obesity, calling it the worst problem in America. Sadly, they don’t even cover the prominent issue in the number of young women (as young as first grader) who die because they constrict their food intake to cope with their body image issues.

If the world is less about fitting women into the skewed view from men’s perspective, women would be much happier with the way they are and less issues in relationship. I am saying this from a personal experience. Body images in women can take a toll on relationship, and degrade the quality of life. For god sake, obesity also comes from the same cause! When will we ever learn to address the real cause, instead, giving out pills and bombarding media with skeleton-like women?
