Splinters of a Soapbox

I don't want to hear about what's right
anymore
For myself, according to everyone
else
I don't want to be lectured or proven wrong
anymore
The decisions that I've made for
no one, above all else

The quest for doing what is right has left me,
lone
In a room full of screaming people
all, of course, screaming the right way

Fear has left me mindless, my tongue swollen
Please chastise me for my neglect
for all things done and said are,
in the end,
un-right.

I know this is true.
Your convictions prove this to me.
You are, of course, the right one
in your right place
having never made a single mistake

And being wrong, I can only say
I don't want to hear about what's right
anymore
