Drabble #4
For ferretwho, who is my hero for requesting Castiel/Wash and 'rewards'. I had a good three ideas before going with this one. For now. ;)
He can't just leave. It's not who he is, what he does. Abandon people? His wife? He's not ready. They're not ready, they can't be. Someone's gotta fly them out of danger.
Apparently River can do that. They can all be ready. He rages inwardly and he just-
“Wash.”
He turns to the firm voice and knows the man, creature, angel standing there. Always has. The angel holds out a hand to beckon it's Thursday child home. Wash hesitates before reaching out.
He must have done something big to deserve the reward of an angel's reception into heaven.
