I just had a truly wonderful afternoon. I met with a local author who is a writer in residence at my local university. This means she is not only working on her next novel, but she is making time to help aspiring authors. I showed her two of the short works that I posted here, and she thought they were wonderful. She greatly enjoyed the imagery that I created, and we discussed how the images could be expanded into longer pieces. The first one was

She was very helpful with suggestions on things I could do to expand my skills, and get better at writing. She was both complementary and encouraging. I’m going to work this week on a more complete story for her to read over, and I’m going to look for some magazines that publish short stories. I am going to make my dream come true!
