history uncovered, success so far, part 7

May 30, 2011 10:35

So its been a few days since my last post.

I have contacted immigration and provided the relevant details about dates, locations, and who the sponsoring organisation was. hopefully will receive a reply in about three days they say. I must confess i don't hold a lot of hope that they will release the information to me, and may necessitate a face to face meeting with some manager to explain things again, but at this stage they are my only shot of finding the passenger list of 11 families that made the journey.

Another lead has cropped up in the auckland library archives, turns out they have access to the NZ listener archives on microfiche. strange as it may sound yes i am looking for the listener of the day. on one hand so i can build a picture, a snapshot if you will of NZ at the time of the arrival, and on the other i am actually seeking a series of adverts run at the time that have relevance to what i am researching. as n immediate after thought i'll send the same enquiry down to the hamilton library as well to scan the waimato times, i seem to recall them being in there as well.

next stop on the email trail te poi school, and matamata college, in search of a former student, my old friend and partner in crime on ship Edward.

till next time then
