steam punk projects the ongoing saga
Welcome again Gentlefolk, I am happy to report yet more progress has been made toward the construction of the steam powered armour.
The Arm pieces and the upper legs have at last been cut out of sheet foam and shaped to fit. so far only the arm pieces have been glued as they simply slip into position and can be attached to the overalls chosen as the basis of the armour.
The torso has also been adjusted in the back and the lower plates glued into place, catches will be added to allow the wearer to simply clip it into position and make the whole secure.
On first fitting, the armour is comfortable enough, and allows for a good degree of body movement.
Of course with addition of suitable headwear as one can see the project is well on the way to becoming the latest answer in personal protection for the steam gentleman (or lady) on the go.
Although the steam back pack unit can actually be worn over the suit, the current carrying system will have to be revised, I military carrying yolk with straps that pass over the shoulders and along the body, that does up at the waist with a belt. the belt may also carry the personal shield generator for added protection. Fortunately the strapping is merely bolted to the frame and allows for easy modification. the original design pulls upon the front plate creating a distortion that both renders the armour open to attack under the arms and generally disturbs the over all look of the piece.
So far I am happy with the results. The rest of the current crew of the Beowulf have also begun designing their own accouterments for adventure and with all possible speed shall soon have many photonic capture of our adventures to put forth for public perusal.
