So - the update on the hip/back is OUCH! Damn it that hurts. I've renewed my prescription for the ibuprofen that I was given after the car accident in New Orleans and that helped this morning. But this hurting while walking, hurting while sitting and hurting while lying down thing has got to stop. I just hurt. Lots.
But - we had a great weekend anyway with
bardicstorm's good friend C. and his newish girlfriend (Ca.) coming down for a visit. We haven't seen C. in almost a year and he's never been to the apartment so it was a real treat. I had off work on Wed, Thur & Fri so I was able to get the house acceptably clean anyway. Slowly. I was careful and did dishes in stages and that sort of thing.
They came down on the Fung Wah bus from Boston. I guess it's a bit smooshed, but heck it's only $15! That's a steal and a half.
It was amazing to see C. as he recently had surgery to help him lose weight and he's dropped an amazing 140 lbs. As he said as he looked at me, "I lost a you!" And he's right, just about. He had so much more energy then we've ever seen him with and it's great to see how much he's loving life right now. And his girlfriend seems very very nice.
bardicstorm and the two C's went into the city on Saturday to the Met and Central Park and a variety of other touristy things. I got left behind, which sort of sucked. Standing on the stairs wishing them all a good time and then just wandering around the house was a bit lonely frankly. But I settled down with a rousing game of EQ2 and managed to finally get some rush writs done on poor baby fae Ealasai. She's a jeweler and I just hadn't been able to get the timing right on her writs so was always failing them. I asked for some advice and changed the way I did it and got my act together on her. She also ventured out of Kelethin for the first time in a long time and did some fighting in ButcherBlock. Great quest series out there, I'm really enjoying it.
On Sunday, we decided that if we drove down to the ferry, I could go into Chinatown with them to see off C & Ca. So we did. We walked slowly, which we had to do for Ca anyway. She's a bit heavy herself and really had trouble breathing at times. It was also super warm at the time and sunny so she was struggling a lot. I hope she and C are able to support each other in getting healthy. I did ok except for a spot when I tripped on the sidewalk.. oh did that hurt a ton.
After they left on the bus back to Boston,
bardicstorm took me out to dinner in Little Italy. We spent some time in Chinatown first where I finally got to try a bubble tea - yum. I got a jasamine green tea that was wonderful and the bubbles are just funky and chewy. We also picked up some chopsticks and got some coins and the neatest Dragon Turtle statue for the altar. Dinner was *so* good. We split a half a bottle of chianti and had pasta, I had lobster ravioli which I haven't had in years. Lunella's at 173 Mulberry St. - we definitely recommend them as Lunella herself is keeping an eye on things. She was wonderful, ordering people around and speaking half English/half Italian.
Today we just slowly went back to work. Very slowly. I'm really not looking forward to the walk back up the hill - I think we'll probably be cabbing it. And nothing planned tonight - hurrah! A night to just relax and unwind.
