Mostly functional

The computers are up and working. The phones ring, but have more features than I ever thought possible and scare the hell out of me, never mind that I have to remember to see who I'm answering for (but this week my boss decided that I shouldn't answer because it's just too confusing). The database is still dead in the water so that's a major problem and the printers aren't set up so actual work is a bit hard to do.

We have so much heading down the pike at us that I'm a little bit scared. I'm way behind on the conference planning and can't even send out registration forms until the new databases are built. This gets filed under *eek* because the person responsible for building said databases (two - one for each conference that I'm the registrar for) is also responsible for getting every other system up and running. This means that I'm so far down the totem pole that I can't even see it.

I also need to order more books for the other sets of conferences (smaller) that I'm the registrar for - and since we can't currently ship or recieve as the back is still a mess - this is not smooth either.

However, my monster amount of work over the past few months paid off and we are unpacked at least. I still have to go through all of the files and get them straightened out, but it's ok if that takes me a few weeks. These aren't files we use every day.

My desk is nice, but I've got to figure out the right height for everything. I've got the chair almost right and the keyboard placement is better, but I think the monitor is too low. And the mouse is under the desk where I have it right now. And I've got to do the same thing in my boss' office because his back sucks and he's no good at setting his office up.

But - I do have good news. As of Jan 1, I'm getting promoted to Program Associate & Conference Registrar. This means that the work I've been doing for 2 years now - I'm finally getting paid for it. This is a good thing - and it's always a good thing when the president of an organization tells you to your face that you saved their cans on their biggest conference every two years.

*happy dance* They noticed me!
