It's been a while

It's been almost a year since I updated this last. How did that happen? It's not that I have nothing to say, it's simply that I'm not saying it.

My writing has virtually dried up (that creativity has been channeled into other outlets), but I miss writing here and in general. I'll make an effort to post here more often.

One thing that there has been a lot of lately (and that you may have already seen on twitter, so bear with me) is fiber arts. Knitting, spinning, now weaving, quilting, general sewing. Last evening looked like this for me:

All of it culminated in me discovering that the warp I put on the loom (the threads you see in the picture) is just a little bit too thick, making it difficult to use the loom properly. However, because I put four hours into prepping and warping last night and don't feel like doing it all again tonight, I'm going to see if I can make a go of it and make this warp work for at least a practice.

I did manage to weave a little bit (messily) on there last night, and I swear it was magical. There's a certain alchemy involved in turning threads/yarn into a garment or a fabric, whether it's through knitting or weaving. I love the process of taking something and turning it into something else. Of bringing something else beautiful into the world.

So tonight there will be some more weaving, and if the weather holds out, getting spinning roving from kageotogi and writing with writerly types in Hampden, which is always a good time.

weaving, creativity
