Sunday is my husband's birthday. I have been racking my brain as to what to give him. He likes getting things that he can share with the family, so I am willing to spend more on the gift.
Inspiration struck this morning when I was looking at APOD (Astronomy Picture of the Day) which Hubby introduced me to. I decided to get him a telescope. Nothing outrageous or anything since we are all amateurs . I called 9 stores within reasonable driving distance at $4 a gallon for gasoline. Only 1 (a sporting goods store) had any because they didn't send them back at Christmas time like everyone else does.
Tell me, why in the wide world of sports do people want telescopes in winter? I can see giving them as a gift, but I would much rather sit outside on a beautiful summer evening to look at the stars or bring it on our camping trip. It seems more logical to carry them in the summer months right next to the camping equipment, but I am not in retail.
