We had a pretty fun weekend and the weather was HOT! On Thursday night, Tom and I went to our first "silent auction", a charity event for South End baseball and softball. It was at Clery's a bar in the area, and was sponsored and attended by Red Sox pitcher Manny Del Carmen. I had never been to a silent auction before and have to admit, the auction part of it wasn't too exciting. You just look at all the stuff and write down your name on a list with your bidding price if you are interested in it, then keep checking the list to see if you've been outbid. We got in the spirit of things and placed a bid on 2 box seats at Fenway, then looked at the date of the game and realized that neither of us could make it that day. oops. Good thing we bid early because *luckily* we were outbid by several hundred dollars almost immediately.
Here is a pic of me with Manny Del Carmen. I can't believe he didn't get more dressed up for being the host of the evening!
Friday night we went to see
Bloc Party at the Fleet Pavillion. We were walking to meet a few friends at their place and do a little pre-concert tippling and the skies opened up to a torrential downpour. I had an umbrella but it didn't matter. I got soaked and walked around in heavy, soaking jeans all night long. The storm was pretty awesome though, great lightning and thunder, and I have to admit, getting soaked felt really good given the heat and humidity we've been experiencing. The show was great and again, it was nice to be outside for a concert. The Pavillion is covered, and the rain had totally let up by the time we arrived.
Saturday was Stephanie and Paul's wedding! Here are some pics from the big day:
