I forgot...

to post the picture of Sandra Bullock I drew the other night! I drew this one before I drew the pointe shoe one, so sorry they're a little out of order... anyway, here it is; click the thumbnail for full view:

Description as copied from DeviantART:

This one was kind of a quickie. I think it turned out pretty good. It took maybe three or three and a half hours from start to finish. I was watching "Murder By Numbers" on TV last night and decided I'd like to draw Sandra... she has some nice facial features. :) I really liked this picture of her because of her graceful profile in it. For reference, http://www.allstarz.org/sandra/118.jpg is the picture I was looking at. It's not usual for me to look at a colour photo and do a charcoal piece, but it worked out pretty well, to my surprise.

The scan of this turned out kinda crappy... it was tough because her skin is so light compared to her hair, and the computer didn't like how much contrast there is, so it just wanted to make her skin blend in too much with the background. I had to alter the contrast and such in photoshop, so I'm sorry it's all greyish looking... but that's the best I could make it look.

I actually expected to have a harder time with the feathery stuff she's wearing than with her face, but I think I was actually more successful with the feathers than the face. I'm happy with the face, but I think it could look more like her. It's tough though, since it is a profile shot, to make it look exactly like her.

I sketched this pretty quickly in graphite mechanical pencil, then used Derwent charcoals in Dark and Light, on smooth Bristol paper. I used both a twin-tip eyeshadow applicator and a tortillion to blend, and a kneaded eraser to erase, and TRESemme hairspray to seal it. :D

Hope you like... comments are appreciated.
