I finished drawing
Sarah Brendel tonight! I'm very happy with this one. :) Her face, especially. I could be happier with the hair, but I don't hate it.
I was looking at
this photo. I think I made her head tilted a bit differently, but it's pretty darn close. ;)
Total time was probably around 5 and a half to 6 hours. I used a graphite mechanical pencil to sketch, and finished it with 2b and 4b charcoal pencils, shading using a twin-tip eyeshadow applicator, and I coloured the background with a black Pitt artist pen, size B. You can't tell in the scan, but I coloured her jacket in with charcoals and the background with the artist pen, so that while they do share the same colour and blend together, the texture is different so that the jacket stands out very subtly against the background. This is on Strathmore charcoal paper, and sealed with TreSemme hairspray. :D
