Why

Someone I once worked with asked me one night why I thought people cheated on their significant other (or any situation similar where someone gets played). I told her it was funny she asked because i was in a situation where that was going on, but I wasn't the one being cheated on, I was the cheater. And I told her I didn't know why, and there was no excuse anyway. I could go on and on about the series of events that have occurred in the past 5 months that have broken down my walls and left me insecure, or blame stupidity or ignorance or selfishness or what have you. But in the end, in my case at least, it leaves all parties, and even 3rd parties, hurt to some degree. Not just a small degree either. So whether it is lack of will, or having feelings for more than one person, or just not thinking about the big picture, it doesn't matter. It's wrong. People get hurt. Even the person cheating does. The effect it has on any person involved, even an outsider, is unnecessary and unfair, and can sometimes be permanent. Unforgiving.

And then there are people that love you no matter what. And stick around to help you when you don't act like yourself. And even if you don't know if a relationship is going to last, or if you can forgive yourself for the unimaginable hurt you created on someone you love more than anyone before, you try to let it go. You try to move on.

If there's one thing that should never be negative, its living in the past. You should only live in the past through good memories to remind you of people you have or do love, and through mistakes that you learn from, and never make again.

I'm not going to beat myself anymore. I'm broken and shattered, and am just breathing until my wounds heal. This masochist is now left with only love, and the means to learn to love herself, and then love those who love her back.

The best answer I can give to why, is because that person doesn't know what they're doing, doesn't know what they want, or are scared of the amazing thing they could have, and they need an escape, a distraction to hide their insecurities. And they are a fool.
