A great part of our lives goes into finding love whether we realize it or not. An involuntary sigh in the middle of work, a furrowed brow during a party or a scoffing gaze at a happy couple; shards of our yearning we express unwittingly.

Some say they find love at first sight.

Toma was sitting with his back against the wall surround by a string of other Juniors around him. He was telling them the story of his audition. He was a natural storyteller, one who could exaggerate the truth just the tad bit to make the story funny yet not far fetched. Sending the group into a second fit of laughter Toma paused to catch his breath. His cheeks flushed red from the sheer pleasure of the limelight.

Boys were still coming in to the meeting that Takki said he would start in 15 minutes, giving them enough time to get to know each other a little beforehand. They would either form little groups themselves or join Toma’s if they found no one else. Toma could strike up a conversation with a stranger as easily as with his best friend.

So if there was a quiet, awkward boy sitting by himself in a corner of the room it was only natural that Toma would approach him to break the ice even though it wasn’t his ‘ice’ to break, technically it was Takki’s.

“Hey...there!” Toma crouched down beside the boy trying to hide behind his bangs, he seemed to retract even more at Toma’s greeting, “My name is Toma, Ikuta Toma and yours?”

He looked in surprise at the hand held out to him. A moment of hesitation later he took it.

“Ya-yamashita Tomo…hisa.” Toma chuckled at the slightly terrified stutter, “Nice to meet you!”

Tomohisa looked up at Toma and managed a smile.

“Un.”

Some say they find love after the first fight

“Oi! You’ve opened too many buttons! I can..I can see...” Toma turned away embarrassed.

Tomohisa walked up behind Toma and poked his cheek, “What can you see Toma-chan!” He said in a sing song voice that would surely annoy Toma. Tomohisa had come far from the shy awkward boy he had been. Toma had changed that about him and now he finds he knows Toma so well that he knows exactly how to annoy him, how to pick a fight and how to make up later.

“Your…your” Toma started blushing even harder.

Tomohisa was starting to get an idea of Toma’s embarrassed situation and it was only amusing him even more, “My what?” Toma suddenly flipped around and pushed back at Tomohisa invading his personal space.

“The instruction was to open one and one button only!” Toma said indignantly, trying hard to contain his embarrassment.

But Tomohisa going from amused to angry at being shoved, narrowed his eyes as he grabbed a button and slowly popped it open, “What did you say Toma? I should open one more button?”

Embarrassment forgotten Toma lunged at Tomohisa, “Seriously Yamashita I’m gonna kill ya”

Tomohisa caught hold of Toma’s hand, despite being younger Tomohisa had no qualms about twisting Toma’s hands behind him, “Why don’t you try!”

“What the hell!” HaseJun exclaimed from where he just entered the dressing room after on his way back from break with Kazama.

Tomohisa took one look at HaseJun and let Toma go, “Whatever.” And he stormed out.

The door slammed shut.

“What the hell happened between you two?”

“Pi was being a bitch that’s what happened.” Toma mumbled before following Tomohisa out the door, “I’m going for break guys.”

The door slammed shut yet again.

Some say they find love only when they fear losing it

It’s been two weeks since they met. It’s the longest they’ve been apart.

Even now as they sat across from each other in the small coffee house, the other seemed so far away it was heartbreaking.

Toma took a little sip and sighed. He wanted so badly to break the silence but didn’t know how. He didn’t want to seem bitter or mocking but every time he’d think of making conversation only one thing would pop into his head.

“How’s NewS?”

He could almost see Tomohisa wince at the question but he averted his eyes down quickly and almost whispered, “Good.”

“And movies…do you see movies?”

Tomohisa gripped his mug once as though suppressing the urge to say…to do something, “Yeah…I do.”

“With your bandmates?” Maybe…just maybe Toma was interrogating Tomohisa. He felt like scum but it was almost like he couldn’t help it. Like it really wasn’t him saying all those cutting things.

Tomohisa let go of his mug and wrapped his hand around Toma’s over Toma’s mug.

“Toma…please” Tomohisa sounded so heartbroken, so lonely that Toma’s toes curled in his own hurt. This wasn’t what he meant to do to Tomohisa.

Toma looked down ashamed, “I miss you.”

Tomohisa chuckled softly until Toma had to look at him surprised, “You have no idea.” He said finally and offered a pathetic smile to Toma.

The “I want you back” was left hanging in the air, swirling around with their warm breaths and enclosed within the promise of their intertwined fingers.

Some say you find love in its pretense

Tomohisa leaned over his neck and planted a small kiss on his cheek. Toma could smell the alcohol radiating from him. Tomohisa’s mumbled “Merry Christmas” was drowned out by the loud chatter (In K8’s case squealing) around them. But he felt the words vibrate against his back non-the less.

He turned around in Tomohisa’s embrace and hugged him, giggling. Maybe he was a little tipsy too. “Merry Christmas Tomo.” He said softly into his ear and Tomohisa hiccupped once before tightening his hold to the point of crushing Toma’s bones.

Then he let go and Toma was left feeling comfortably warm that maybe wasn’t entirely due to the alcohol consumed in the evening.

Tomohisa grabbed his wrist and Toma was lurched forward in the direction he was taking him.

“Come let’s get more drinks.” Tomohisa said cheerfully, almost bouncing on his heels in impatience as Toma tried to pulled back.

And a tug-o-war started with Tomohisa pulling on Toma to take him to the bar laid out on Murakami’s dining table and Toma pulling on…well himself to get away and back to the impromptu dance floor that was made shifting all the couches in the living room.

“C’mon!” Tomohisa said giving a rough, impatient tug and Toma swayed sideway, tripped on someone’s foot. Tomohisa tried to be sneaky and dragged him a few extra steps towards the bar while Toma’s balance was still off but that only managed to unbalance him to the point of falling to the floor.

After an unpleasant confusion between falling, standing and dangling in between Toma found himself in Tomohisa’s arm.

Tomohisa smilled down at him softly, he was still threatening to fall if not more Tomohisa’s hands holding him up from under his armpits. Toma straightened his bent knees so that he was very decisively standing and Tomohisa’s hands slid down to his waist.

He was still holding him.

Toma suddenly felt cornered under Tomohisa’s steady gaze and they stood there for goodness knows how long before steady chant of “Kiss!Kiss” surrounded them.

Tomohisa looked up and grinned. Toma didn’t need to see to confirm that there was mistletoe above their heads.

The chant was growing louder as more people noticed.

Just as Toma was racking his brain to think of how to get out of this predicament Tomohisa leaned in and kissed him right at the corner of his mouth.

There was something mysteriously enchanting about the way Tomohisa’s lips lingered just out of the reach of his own and when Tomohisa released him an eternity later his limbs felt like they had turned into jelly.

And drowned in loud cheers and hooting Tomohisa’s voice cut through clear and strident, “C’mon let’s get some drinks.”

But sometimes love finds you

Toma sighed alone in his apartment. There was no one, literally no one who would be with him. The entire Johnny’s populace was busy in the Countdown and surely tired out after it and his other friends were with their wives or girlfriends.

He left his parents house right after the clock struck 12 midnight

Even Ryuusei had a girl he could lead a normal life with. It was outright depressing with his brother not around and his mother recounting stories of his girlfriend.

He supposed he could sleep or get drunk alone. Pathetic both ways but at least if he sleeps he’ll be well rested and without a headache tomorrow and maybe laugh at all those who tired themselves out harder after this holiday than they do on workdays. Only, for most of the people he worked with New Year’s was a workday.

Toma sighed watching the snow fall idly outside his window in little drops. A few drifted onto his window and stained it in white speckles. He watched the slow descending until it stopped.

The doorbell rang.

“I have fireworks.” Tomohisa held up a packet from the other side of the door once he had opened it.

Toma smiled, feeling a slight tingle spread across his body that had noting to do with the cold draught blowing in through the opened door.

“Then lets go light them.”

Toma grabbed his jacket before taking a hold of Tomohisa’s outstretched hand.

A/N: I don’t know if fireworks and snow go together but let’s just assume they found a clear spot XD
A/N 2: Told ya I’d spam! Cam's is probably next but no promises :D
