Are American Dolls a rich kid thing ? I mean, the only real "doll" I had was a cabbage patch kid. And that was given to me when I was around 8-9 years old when my parents knew I wouldn't destroy it. Call me crazy but spending $100 on a doll is dumb. I'm not unamerican, I just grew up poor and played outside a lot.

And looking at this as a minority, Josefina Montoya??! WTF, is she supposed to represent me ? No thanks on these dolls. They just look creepy.

I kid. I only know that doll from wandering in to the store- she was past my time- so I have no idea what her story is.

As for the rich verses poor thing. I have no idea, I was a lower middle class kid. I have no idea if any of my friends had the dolls, as I don't remember ever playing with them. I just got fascinated because I ended up on the mailing list and those catalogues were beautiful.

I did have a crap ton of Barbies, though.

I didn't grow up on a ranch.

And my grandpa had a goat for about 2 days before he killed it and my grandma hung it's meat up in the kitchen to freeze. I remember it too. That goat got loose and chased me into the front yard.

This is a true story. Jen's generalizations about my culture is true. I might have eaten some goat meat, I don't know. I just remember it smelled a lot and it kept me from running in and out of my Grandma's house.

Just for the record, I was looking at all the Josefina doll, which you said didn't represent you, and those are facts about her, that she, according to the website, grew up on a rancho (that's the phrase they used) and had a goat. I don't actually think all hispanic girls live on ranches or have goats.

I had a pregnant non-Barbie with a belly that popped off.

My best friend and I would use the baby projectile release thingie to bomb the Barbies. We still laugh about it.

It had a cavity in the belly. The tiny baby fit in the belly. There was a pregnant belly that snapped into place.

When you take the belly off, you can release the baby like a projectile. I think Mattel made a doll like this in the 90s (a Midge maybe?).

Someone bought me a Barbie history book as a joke once. I should scan pages of it. It's hilarious.

I will not admit to watching the Barbie webisodes, Barbie: Life in the Dreamhouse. You will have to come over here and check my computer history, which I will have cleared out.

Also there are barbie webisodes? I literally didn't know that was a thing. Until you just told me about them. don't know what to do with this information.
