Emilie Icon Tut;
Nothing fancy, but I really love the result;
Going from this:
to this

Made in psp7, but im sure it is transferable

Firstly, your gonna need a base, I'm using the following, which I made from this pic from good 'ole lost-media.com

Sharpen once

Now, go effects > noise > edge preserving smooth, amount of smoothing: 2

Take your lasso freehand slection tool thingy, and draw a slection around her eyes, eyebrows, hair and mouth (hold shift down to do it in one whole load) and sharpen the selcetion item(s) once

Duplicate you base layer, and destaturate it (shift + h) and take your eraser tool, and go through and erase any desaturated parts on her eyes, lips and hair:

Now, lower the opacity of the desaturated layer to 20

Next, merge your two layers, then duplicate your now-base.

Desaturate your duplicate (shift + h) and set the blend mode to soft light 100

Create a new layer, and use the following brush in black (I just used the regular square tool, but its always handy to have them as brushes too xD)

Merge all

Then, I decided it was a little bit too sharp (cos of when I sharpened eyes, lips and hair, I was a bit off) so I used the soften tool (hardness 20, opacity 20, size 3) and softened a few thigns on the eyes, lips and hair

And voila!

(quick note: insted of using the soften tool at the end, you can also use gaussian blur on the deaturated soft light layer, radius one or two)

Not exactley the same as the original, but cloe enough =D
